Waiver

I know that participating in the Event is potentially dangerous. As with any active outdoor activity, participation in city orienteering can involve many potential risks of injury. These risks may result not only in serious injury, but also in permanent impairment of the participant's future ability. The dangers include but are not limited to automobile traffic; falling or colliding with the ground; medical conditions; weather; and both natural and manmade conditions of the course. I alone am responsible for my safety while I participate, and I should not participate unless I am physically able and/or properly trained.

Event competitors move around the city as usual according to the road traffic regulations, all laws and bylaws applicable for the event area specified in the Event Agenda. Event competitors are not granted any additional and/or special rights during the Event.

I have read the City Orienteering Rules before signing up for the Event. I confirm that I am participating in the Event under my real name and have provided the organizers with accurate personal data and contact information.

I have read and understood this waiver, and in consideration of acceptance of my application for the Event, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the organizers (including, but not limited to, Running City Ltd. and local organizers, be that volunteers or remunerated staff), any sponsors, the United States of America, the State of Oregon, Multnomah County, the city of Portland, and all other land owners and land managers, their representatives and successors, from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver.

In case of emergency it is my responsibility to contact my insurance company and/or emergency services. I understand that the Event organizers do not provide any first aid during the Event.

I grant permission to the organizers to use photographs or audio/video recordings of me for any legitimate purpose, including but not limited to posting participants' photographs on the Event website and social media channels.

Guardian's Permission and Release for Minor: If I am or will be applying for my child to participate in, or be a volunteer at, the Event, I represent and warrant that I am the parent or legal guardian of the child and, as such, consent to my child's participation in the Event and I agree that the terms of this Liability Waiver apply equally to my child and me and any claims I or my child may have in connection with the Event. I also waive any derivative claims that relate to or arise out of my child's participation in the Event.
